Public Works Committee - MINUTES - 7/21/2008 CITY OF MUSKEGO Approved PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MONDAY, JULY 21, 2008 Alderman Fiedler called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. with Ald. Neil Borgman and Ald. Tracy Snead present along with Public Works Superintendent Wayne Delikat, City Engineer David Simpson and those per attached list. Alderman Fiedler led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting was noticed in accordance with the Open Meeting Laws on July 18, 2008. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JUNE 12, 2008 Ald. Borgman moved to approve the minutes of June 12, 2008 as amended. Seconded by Ald. Snead. Motion carried 3-0. CITY ENGINEER/PUBLIC WORKS SUPT. REPORT STATUS OF PROJECTS Janesville Road Phase II – City Engineer Simpson stated that he met with the County to discuss options from Lannon to Pioneer. The county will have two designs ready for the September meeting. 2008 Annual Road Program Update – Superintendent Delikat stated that milling on Martin Dr. would start Monday, July 28, 2008 and should take 3 weeks to complete. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Roadway and storm water management plans commerce East – RA Smith finished reviewing the storm water management plan and recommended that the plan be approved contingent upon a few issues outlined in a letter sent to City Engineer Simpson. Ald. Borgman moved to approve ease side drainage plan for the commerce center contingent upon the letter from RA Smith, utilizing stock pile B. Seconded by Ald. Snead. Motion carried 3-0. Grading issues Candlewood Creek – Deferred until the Committee receives an engineering report from the Candlewood Creek Homeowner’s Association. Discuss drainage at S67 W18950 Steeplechase Dr. – Ald. Borgman requested this item be deferred until the City Engineer looks at the site. Discuss drainage at W180 S6698 Muskego Dr. – The homeowner wants the City to help keep the hill on her property from eroding due to the fact that the City cut into the hill. Ald. Fiedler suggested that the Engineering Department look into this matter and bring back next month. Public Works Committee Page 2 July 21, 2008 NEW BUSINESS Request by Superintendent Delikat to discuss Little Muskego Lake dam repair – Superintendent Delikat informed the Committee that work will be done on the dam which was going to be done with 2 separate bid items, however, Atty. Molter said this cannot be done so the City will have to publicly bid the project. Request by Ald. Borgman to discuss drainage problems in Parkland Subdivision – A resident from the Parkland subdivision stated that he wants the City to come up with a plan to re-ditch the area. Ald. Fiedler suggested that City staff look at the site to see what can be done. He also stated that this type of work should probably be paid for by the homeowners. This item is deferred pending on Engineering review. Request by Ald. Snead to discuss the curve on Tess Corners before entering Franklin – Ald. Snead presented information from the police department showing that there have only been 10 accidents from the year 2000 to present. The accidents are not all happening at the curve. She is not sure if the Committee can do anything. This item will be deferred until further problems arise. Muskego Commerce Center West – RA Smith recommends approval of the revised interim storm water concept. Ald. Borgman moved to approve the plot as presented for the grading and changes to the location of ponds and land areas for the western commerce center. Seconded by Ald. Snead. Motion carried 3-0.
