Public Works Committee - MINUTES - 1/21/2008 CITY OF MUSKEGO Approved PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MONDAY, JANUARY 21, 2008 Alderman Borgman called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. with Ald. Tracy Snead present along with Public Works Superintendent Wayne Delikat and City Administrator Jennifer Sheiffer. Ald. Noah Fiedler was absent. Alderman Borgman led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting was noticed in accordance with the Open Meeting Laws on January 17, 2008. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 19, 2007 Ald. Snead moved to approve the minutes of November 19, 2007. Seconded by Ald. Borgman. Motion carried 2-0. STATUS OF PROJECTS Janesville Road Phase II – Ald. Borgman stated that there was nothing new to report. Traffic Signal installation at Racine Ave. and Hillandale Dr. – Superintendent Delikat stated that this project was complete except for the last lift of asphalt which will be done in spring. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Road Work Hillside Drive – City Administrator Sheiffer informed the Committee that Ruekert & Mielke are preparing a preliminary assessment on this project. Once the numbers are received a public hearing will be scheduled. Discuss Center Drive Extension to Lake – This item is deferred until the February 2008 meeting. Action on updated proposal Industrial Park Stormwater Alternatives – City Administrator Sheiffer informed the Committee that the new proposal from Ruekert and Mielke to perform an economic benefit analysis for the ponds eliminated the Starla site and is not to exceed $3,900.00. Ald. Snead moved to accept the new proposal from R&M not to exceed $3,900.00. Seconded by Ald. Borgman. Motion carried 2-0. Request by Ald. Snead to discuss the Burning Ordinance – Ald. Snead informed the Committee that she is not looking at banning the burning of leaves in the City of Muskego. It was suggested that the police department be contacted if anyone has a complaint about burning. Request by Ald. Snead for a brighter light at the entrance to Stoney Creek Retirement Complex – Superintendent Delikat informed the Committee that to change that light from a 100 amp to a 200 amp will cost the City $289.00 and that the Public Works Department will make sure this gets done. Snead for a street light at Tess Corners and College Ave. – Superintendent Delikat informed the Committee that We Energies could take the old street light down and put up a new light suspended over the intersection. The cost of this would be approximately $1,500. Ald. Snead moved that this be taken to the Finance Committee. Seconded by Ald. Borgman. Motion carried 2-0. NEW BUSINESS Recommendation on action for bid results for the Tess Corners Creek Streambed Stabilization Project and amendment for scope of work for related engineering services – Ald. Borgman stated that the low bidder for this project was CW Purpero in the amount of $82,962.10. City Administrator Sheiffer stated that the DNR asked for additional information for the Chapter 30 permit. Bonestroo is asking for an amendment to their service agreement for an allowance amount of $7,800.00 to handle this additional work. Ald. Snead moved to accept the bid of $82,962.10 from CW Purpero to take care of this project. Seconded by Ald. Borgman. Motion carried 2-0. Ald Snead also moved to approve the cost of $7,800.00 to cover the additional engineering work by Bonestroo. Seconded by Ald. Borgman. Motion carried 2-0.
