Public Works Committee - MINUTES - 12/15/2008 CITY OF MUSKEGO Approved PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MONDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2008 Alderman Fiedler called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. with Ald. Snead and Ald. Borgman present along with City Engineer David Simpson and Superintendent Wayne Delikat. Alderman Fiedler led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting was noticed in accordance with the Open Meeting Laws on December 9, 2008. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 17, 2008 Ald. Borgman moved to approve the minutes of November 17, 2008. Seconded by Ald. Snead. Motion carried 3-0. CITY ENGINEER/PUBLIC WORKS SUPT. REPORT Superintendent Delikat informed the Committee that leaves have all been picked up and they are in the process of putting up snow fences. STATUS OF PROJECTS Janesville Road Phase II – Nothing new. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Request by Ald. Borgman to discuss drainage problems in Parkland Subdivision – This item is deferred until next month. Request by Ald. Schaefer for a no parking sign at the entrance to Lake Meadows Subdivision – Ald. Fiedler informed the Committee that Ald. Schaefer requested this item be removed from the agenda pending informal resolutions. NEW BUSINESS Road vacation Commerce Center West – City Engineer Simpson informed the Committee that Plan Commission has received and conditionally approved a request to vacate a portion of Commerce Dr. and all of Bridgeway Ct. in the new Muskego Commerce Center West. Public Works Committee must also review and approve this request prior to ultimate approval at Common Council. Ald. Borgman moved to approve the road vacation. Seconded by Ald. Snead. Motion carried 3-0. Approval of roadway and grading plans for the Aud Mar Supper club Redevelopment – City Engineer Simpson stated that the current site of the Aud Mar Supper Club is being redeveloped into two single family lots and one 4-unit condominium building. As part of this redevelopment, the developer is required to construct a public roadway and prepare a master grading plan for the development. The plans meet the requirements of the City, therefore, he recommends approval of the roadway and grading plans for the Aud Mar redevelopment subject to technical corrections as required and approved. Ald. Borgman moved to approve the roadway and grading plans. Seconded by Ald. Snead. Motion carried 3-0. Public Works Committee Page 2 December 15, 2008 Review and potential approval for purchase of 2009 patrol truck – Superintendent Delikat informed the Committee that he received 2 bids for a 2009 patrol truck. Mayor Johnson requested that they get a third bid. Ald. Borgman moved to approve the lowest bid for the purchase of a 2009 patrol truck. Seconded by Ald. Snead. Motion carried 3-0. Request by Ald. Snead for a “Slow Children Playing” sign on Emerson and Hawthorne – Superintendent Delikat informed the Committee that requests for these type of signs do not need approval from the Public Works Committee.
