Public Works Committee - MINUTES - 4/25/1991PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD APRIL 25, 1991
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 P.M. by Chairman Dumke.
Also present were Committee Members Simmons and Taube,
Superintendent John Loughney and those per the attached list.
The Committee discussed Urban/Rural Drainage projects.
It was noted that the City Engineers will complete the requested
Storm Drainage Study for the SW l/4 of Section 10 (Pellmann/Eiche
properties) and submit to the City around the 13th of May.
The Committee discussed drainage concern on the M & W Marine property on College Avenue. The City Engineers have proposed a
retention area and Mayor Salentine is working with Mr. Jerry Kurth to secure an easement to go on his property to do some grading.
The Committee discussed status of Little Muskego Lake Dam
project. The Mayor has been in touch with Mr. Sturtevant of the DNR and Mr. Sturtevant has advised that he will not be able to meet with the City until all grant applications have been reviewed which will be near the end of June.
John Loughney advised the Committee that the preconstruction meeting for the Schultz Lane Road Project was held on April 25,
1991, and that construction will not commence until July 8, 1991, due to wet conditions.
The Committee discussed the status of the Public Works Garage Addition. There has been no recent correspondence from the City
Engineers showing proposed design or timetable for bidding.
The Committee discussed the status of the Marlan Meadows Drainage Project. The City Engineers will be submitting a project map to
the City shortly and Attorney Molter is in the process of
preparing easement documents. Once easement documents have been
received, Ald. Hilt will secure signatures from the affected
property owners.
Mr. Miles Meinerz appeared before the Committee to discuss storm
sewers for the proposed Bay Lawn South Subdivison. The Committee
again reinforced their position that the proposed subdivision must resolve the drainage concerns before the Committee will recommend
approval. Mr. Meinerz will meet with the Department of Planning & Development to attempt to implement Public Works Committee
required storm sewer system.

Mr. Harold Diekfuss appeared before the Committee to discuss drainage concern which he feels is caused by Golden Country
Estates Subdivision. supt. Loughney will meet with the developer
of Golden Country Estates to try to resolve. It was noted that
there are funds set aside in Golden Country Estate's letter of
credit which will mostly be used for asphalting, but there may be some available for this project. The perforated pipe may be an
issue as various utilities have caused breaks in the pipe.
Ald. Taube advised the Committee of a drainage concern on Oak
Grove. Diane Bronkella (W188 57634 Oak Grove Drive) appeared
before the Committee stating that the back of her property abuts
Oak Grove and there is an abnormal amount of water in her yard.
supt. Loughney will review after next heavy rainfall and, if
needed, the Public Works Department will install a storm sewer.
Ald. Taube discussed a drainage concern on Lions Park Drive. A
resident is complaining about a pond located on the Schaeffer
property. The tile that drains into a drywell was clogged by
local construction in the area and the pond is overflowing. The
Public Works Department will open the tile to see if this corrects
the problem.
The Committee discussed request to install a storm grate on storm
sewer leading from Richdorf Drive to Little Muskego Lake. The
Public Works Committee will install within the week.
Ald. Taube advised that the Little Muskego Lake Association is
requesting a silt trap on Racine and Richdorf Drive. He has been in contact with Kurt Peot of Ruekert & Mielke who has advised that
he can design a silt trap. Ald. Taube will contact Kurt Peot and
request that he supply the Committee with a conceptual plan before the Committee agrees to fund a design.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Ald. William T. Simmons
