PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD OCTOBER 31, 1990
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Dumke at 7:UO P.M. Also present were Committee Members Simmons and Taube, Mayor
Salentine, Public Works Superintendent Loughney and those per the attached list.
The Committee discussed potential Urban/Rural Drainage Projects
for 1991 and among th$a discussed were the siltation ponds in Parkland Subdivision and the Richdorf Drive drainage project.
Superintendent Loughney advised the Committee that he ran an ad for the firewood and it was sold for $250.00.
The Committee reviewed the policy on installation of culverts in the Industrial Park that was established in Finance committee
minutes of 12/3/86 and made the following clarification:
The Industrial landowner is responsible for the
cost incurred for installing one (1) 30 ft.
culvert up to $l,OOO.OO. All costs over $l,OOO.OO
will be paid for out of the Industrial Park Development Fund account. When more than one
culvert is requested, the Industrial landowner will be responsible for all costs of the
additional culverts.
Chairman Dumke updated the Committee on the need for bidding the
Schultz Lane Road Project for 1991 and will confirm the commitment of $34,000.00 cost sharing in the project by the two
property owners. The deteriorated condition of the road was
discussed and Ald. Taube moved to have the City supply twelve
(12) loads of gravel for the road. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried.
The Committee discussed drainage concern on Marlan Meadows.
Discussion is in progress with Alderman Hilt and affected
property owners.
The Committee discussed drainage problem on Independence and
concluded that it is now working properly.
The Committee discussed the storm sewer system.
Mr. Harenda's drainage problem on Lentini Drive was discussed and the Committee is awaiting the results of the Public Works
Department's flushing.

Superintendent Loughney will review the new waste oil collection
regulations with the fire inspectors. The regulations, as
interpreted by Superintendent Loughney do not apply.
Commercial drivers licensing regulations were discussed.
The City was not in receipt of the final road and drainage plans
for the Lake Forest Development.
Ald. Simmons requested the culvert crossing at Woods Road &
Mystic Drive be repaired.
The drainage ditch being installed in Woodcrest Subdivision,
adjacent to Woods Road, was discussed.
The Committee discussed the raised culvert on the Spaight
property (S76 W18553 Kingston Dr.). Ald. Taube will contact Mrs.
Spaight to secure her cooperation.
The Committee reviewed memorandum from Parks Director Peter Theis
dated October 29, 1990, and determined:
The building now shared by Parks & Public Works will become the Parks Building when the addition
to the Public Works Building is completed.
The Police Department will continue to utilize the present fenced in identified area.
The motion made by the Capital Budget Committee
indicating that 100' of land be retained will be
addressed when a determination is made if there is
surplus property available for lease or sale.
The Lake District locates their equipment but
there is no agreement on file.
