PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD DECEMBER 20, 1990
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman Dumke.
Also present were Committee Member Simmons, Supt. Loughney, Mr. Al Merfert and those per the attached list.
The Committee discussed Urban/Rural drainage projects.
Mr. Melvin Duve appeared before the Committee to request that one
mile of ditch from the Muskego Dam south to Norway County Line
have debris removed which is restricting the water flow. Ald. Dumke moved to have the Public Works Department implement the
request. Seconded by Ald. Simmons, motion carried.
Mr. Al Merfert appeared before the Committee to discuss the water
problem that he believes has been created by the filling of the property owned by M & W Marine. Supt. Loughney will review the
City Engineer's plans and implement a compliance deadline to
accomplish the required drainage system.
Supt. Loughney updated the Committee on the drainage improvements
on Freedom Avenue. The Developer of Durhamswood Subdivision was required to implement drainage improvements and the Developer complied. The improvement failed to rectify the drainage problem
and Supt. Loughney is of the opinion that you could not go back
and ask the Developer to further contribute to rectifying the
drainage problem which has been asphalted and seeded by the City. Mayor Salentine recommended that his office send a letter to Mr. Robert Rasmussen clarifying the comments made at the
Public Hearing on the proposed 1991 Budget.
Supt. Loughney advised the Committee that the Public Works
employees are taking the Commercial Drivers License tests.
The Committee determined that the Public Works Department should not get involved with plowing at Parkland Mall for Recycling as
it is on private property.
The Fire Department requested the use of City equipment for emergencies. The Committee agrees that the Public Works
Department should make City equipment available for emergency
use. Restoration for damages done by the Fire Department will be
monitored by the Mayor's Office.
The Committee discussed the sale of land adjacent to the Public
Works Garage. The Industrial Park Broker has advised that an adjacent property owner is interested in buying a portion of the
property or leasing a portion. The Committee is receptive to the Broker providing the Committee with an offer for review.
