Public Works Committee - MINUTES - 8/30/1990PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD AUGUST 30, 1990 The meeting was called to order at 7:OU P.M. by Chairman Dumke. Also present were Committee Member Taube, Mayor Salentine, Pu~blic Works Superintendent John Loughney and those per the attached list. Ald. Taube discussed a drainage concern on Richdorf and Racine Avenue. Supt. Loughney will confer with the City Engineers to determine the design for the silt trap which will be installed. Supt. Loughney advised the Committee that to date Mr. Harenda, Lentini Drive, has not contacted him to advise that he has. 4 uncovered the drain tile. Supt. Loughney discussed with the Committee recommendations to remedy the drainage concern on McShane & Independence. Ald. Taube moved to approve the installation of a manhole and a cross culvert to divert a portion of storm water at high water times across Independence. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried. The Committee reviewed the status of Schultz Lane. The City Engineers have let the bids and are working with DNR to obtain necessary approval for storm water drainage. The Committee reviewed the status of Industrial Park Floodplain and noted that the City Engineers have submitted all requested materials to FEMA to facilitate the City's request for an amendment to the floodplain. Correspondence from the City Engineers dated August 23, 1990, was reviewed in regard to the drainage plans submitted for M & W Marine. The engineers have had several conversations with the petitioner and plans will be submitted to the engineers some time during the week of August 27, 1990. The Committee has not received requested management report from the developers of Stoney Creek Development. It was noted that the Lake Forest drainage plans have been submitted to the City Engineers for review. The Committee discussed drainage concern in area of Freedom Acres & Durhamswood Subdivisons. Ald. Taube moved to direct the Public ;4;czl;epartment to extend curbs and asphalt beyond existing . Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried. Ald. Taube will contact Waukesha County Supervisor DeAngelis on visual blockage concern on Racine Avenue and Waukesha County Supervisor Guhr on sunken culvert concern on Janesville Road. a---- 0 Public Works Committee - Page 2 August 30, 1990 The Committee reviewed letter received from Mr. George Vogel, S74 W20976 Field Drive, regarding safety hazard on Field Drive. His concern is that on the south side of the road, just west of his driveway, there is a constriction which narrows the road. supt. Loughney has striped the road to eliminate the safety hazard. The drainage concern for Open Pantry requested to be addressed by Mr. LeSage was deferred. The Committee discussed storm water drainage problem on Lions Drive as requested by Ald. H. Sanders. The Committee requests that the Department of Planning & Development contact the property owner of the Schaefer property and request demolition plans for outbuildings be supplied to the City to insure that drainage pipes will not be damaged. The Committee discussed the possibility of adopting a "Wheel Tax" and encouraged aldermen participation in further discussions to be held at the September meeting. Supt.
