Public Works Committee - MINUTES - 6/2/1988PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JUNE 2, 1988 The meeting was called to order at 8:15 P.M. by Chairman Dumke. Also present were Committee Members Taube and Sanders, Mayor Salentine and Public Works Superintendent Loughney. The Committee discussed Urban Drainage Projects. Ald. Dumke is working with Mr. Tom Dahlman, who represents the Schaefer property, to gain cooperation in cleaning the ditch running through both properties. Ald. Taube moved to secure quotes for the project to determine cost of cleaning out the ditch. Seconded by Ald. Sanders, motion carried. If the representative of the Schaefer property agrees to participate in the project, the Council will implement. Extension of Lake Drive was discussed and it was determined that the Public Works Department will do the base road work and the asphalting will be done by the City 's asphalt contractor. Mr. John Ingersoll has agreed to have the required t-turn around constructed simultaneously by the City, with Mr. Ingersoll being responsible for costs for his share. Ald. Dumke advised the Committee of a tour taken on June 1, 1988, of the settling ponds at Lake Denoon with members of the Lake Denoon Homeowner's Association, Parks Supervisor Theis, Public Works Superintendent Loughney, and other interested parties. The Public Works Department will place the riprap at the outlet of large culvert and restore illegal ditches to their original condition. Martha Aldridge appeared before the Committee to discuss drainage ditch problem in front of her home addressed W131 S6621 Kipling Drive. In her opinion, the driveway culverts require lowering. Ald. Taube moved to have the Public Works Department look at the culvert and take necessary corrective action. Seconded by Ald Sanders, motion carried. Harry Harenda, W180 S6416 Lentini Drive, appeared before the Committee to discuss drainage problem on Lentini Drive. He reviewed the history of this problem and contends that the relocation of a drainage ditch in the front of his house several years ago is the cause of the problem. Superintendent Loughney will design a solution and have Ald. Hilt present it to the adjacent property owner, Mr. Randreup, W180 S6428 Lentini Drive, for cost participation. Further discussion was held on the proposed resurfacing of Schultz Lane. The road requires ditches to be installed which would require a dedication from Mr. Tobianski and Mr. Thorsell to secure a 50' road width. Public Works Superintendent Loughney and Ald. Dumke will identify the required property dedication to secure the required width. This material will be referred for Finance Committee review. Public Works Committee - Page 2 June 2, 1988 The Committee reviewed drainage and road plans for Suburban Heights Subdivision. Ald. Taube moved that Subdivision be established with curbs and gutters. Developer will also determine with approval of the City Engineers the most favorable drainage plan for this area. Cost figures for the property's responsibility or its share of the cost involved with installing a drainage pipe which was done under the TIF Program is to'be determined by the Building Inspection Department. The Committee reviewed the following quotes for Public Works Department tractor with backhoe: Milwaukee Ford $40,680 Brooks Equip. Co. $37,300 Miller, Bradford & Risberg $35,450 Ald. Taube moved to recommend approval of quote of Miller, Bradford & Risberg in the amount of $35,450. Seconded by Ald. Sanders, motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 11:15 P.M.
