Public Works Committee - MINUTES - 9/24/1987PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER 24, 1987 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman Dumke. Also present were Committee Members Taube and Sanders, Mayor Salentine, Supt. Bertram and those per the attached list. The Committee determined that there is no further discussion on TIF projects and recommended it be removed from future agendas. The Committee discussed Urban Drainage. Pick & Save drainage plans were reviewed and the Committee recommended approval as submitted. The drainage plans for the Klenz/Salentine property were reviewed and Mr. Potrykus, the Developer, requested a determination of a need for a 32' wide asphalt paved road. This request will be reviewed, a standard will be developed, and the determination made if Parkland Extended is a collector street at the October meeting. Mr. Klenz requested the City write to the State requesting the extension of Parkland Drive across Highway 24. The standards for roads & ditches were discussed and the discussion will continue at the October meeting. Drainage plans for Meadow Green Subdivision were removed from the Agenda. The Committee reviewed City Engineer's correspondence of September 10, 1987, regarding Duramswood Addition #l. Mr. Robert Klenz appeared before the Committee and advised that Settler's Way Cul-de-sac 3 feet minimum width gravel shoulder and pavement patching of the sanitary sewer trench in Indian Trail is being complied with. Mr. Klenz addressed problem of drainage of storm water from Durhamswood Addition #l into Freedom Acres. supt. Bertram recommended that another water drainage pipe be installed at Pilgrim Drive and Indian Trail since the one 36" pipe now in place does not seem to be able to handle heavy storm drainage water capacity. This, in turn, causes flooding conditions in Freedom Acres Subdivision. The Developer, as well as the Committee, agreed that an additional drain pipe should be installed and an agreement will be worked out on the financial cost of this pipe between the Developer and the City of Muskego. The Committee and Highway Supt. Bertram are to inspect the area and notify concerneda citizens. Reference was made that bus drivers are contribunng to the problem. Mayor Salentine recommended that if the problem can be corrected, the maintenance of the wooded area in the center of the cul-de-sac would be the adjacent property owner's responsibility. Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Hawes appeared before the Committee to discuss concern of their ditch. The ditch was restored by a mutual agreement between the City and the property owner. The Committee will inspect this area when related cul-de-sac is inspected. The Committee discussed correspondence received from the Plan Commission regarding a request for legal lot status of Lot 14, Block 4, Meadow Dale Subdivision. The owners propose to increase the size of their lot by asking for vacation of a portion of Meadow Drive, used as a turn-around, to increase the size of their lot. The extra width of road reservation upon which the " t " turn-around is located was offered to Mr. & Mrs. Heikkenen for $1,000. Meadow Drive could then be extended to Briargate. The Heikkenen's will survey the adjacent property owners to determine if there are any objections to this sale and the Committee will research procedures necessary to accomplish sale of this land. The Committee reviewed quote for purchase of Ingersoll-Rand air compressor as approved in the 1987 Capital Budget. The meeting adjourned at 9:15 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Ald. Harold L.
