Public Works Committee - MINUTES - 8/14/1986PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD AUGUST 14, 1986
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman
DeAngelis. Also present were Committee Members Hilt and Sanders,
Mayor Salentine, Supt. Bertram, Stan Potrykus, Lynn Kurer and
Harold DeBack.
The Committee reviewed the road plans for a proposed division of
land with Stan Potrykus and Lynn Kurer. The Committee determined
that a 40 ft. drainage easement be required instead of the
proposed 20 ft. easement shown on the plans. This would provide future accessibility by the Public Works Department.
The Adrian Drive drainage project was discussed with Stan
Potrykus. The steep grade requirements were addressed and it was
determined that sodding of the ditch areas would be acceptable
providing it can meet the approvals of the Public Works Superintendent.
Mr. Potrykus, representing the Aud Mar Estates, was made aware of
the unsatisfactory condition of the ditches on the Ladwig Drive
extension and he was directed to place hay bales to prevent the erosion from entering the lake. Ald. DeAngelis made the
Committee aware of the ditch extension from the end of Ladwig Drive creating a drainage problem.
TIF projects were reviewed. On Woods Road, a sewer manhole is
elevated about four (4) inches on the north side of the street
near the Ludwig's property and will cause problems during the
snow plowing season. The Committee recommended that Ruekert & Mielke be notified of the unsatisfactory condition of the
manhole.
The Public Works Committee will look into a possible need for the
installation of a Guard rail at the Switala ditch area.
The installation of traffic lights on Janesville Road has been
completed and a one (1) year warranty on the installation expires on May 1, 1987.
The Committee reviewed the change order request for Na-Con
Services, Inc. to delete the remaining graveling, grading,
seeding and existing culvert replacement from scope of
Contractor's work for a decrease in the contract price of
$2,880.00. The Public Works Committee will do the remaining
graveling, grading, seeding and culvert replacement which will be
paid from Account 55100-1245 (100-5100-1245).
A meeting with Super Excavators will be held on August 26, 1986
at the City Engineer's office to discuss the wedging and final work on the Ladwig Drive Sewer Project.

August 14, 1986
The Urban Drainage Project was discussed.
The Public Works Superintendent indicated that Tans Drive will be
resurfaced shortly.
After discussion of the Industrial Park Drainage Study, it was decided that the Engineer on the project will be contacted to
make a presentation to the City.
The State will be accepting bids for the reconstruction of the
Big Muskego Lake Dam until August 26, 1986. It was recommended that the Deputy Commissioners be notified that the plans are now
available for their review prior to the Big Muskego Lake/Bass Bay
Protection and Rehabilitation District Annual Meeting.
The Committee referred the correspondence regarding permanent
disconnection of the Lannon Road Lift Station to the Public Sewer
Committee.
October 1, 1986 is the agreed upon date set for the winter
drawdown of Little Muskego Lake. It will be lowered 18 inches, although the DNR allows a 2 ft. drawdown.
The Committee reviewed the engineer's report on the Kurtze Lane
Project. It was noted that the areas where the grass did not take were due to the herbicide being applied and this situation
is not the contractor's responsibility.
Mr. Robert Blasius was hired by the Public Works Department to
fill the vacancy left by Roy Ackerman.
A hole on Richards Lane will be repaired by the Public Works Department.
The Committee discussed the Hwy. 24 repaving project. The State
is anxious to get the bids finalized. They will resurface the
existing two lanes with a 3 ft. extension on both sides. An additional bicycle lane would have to be financed by the local
community and be warranted by the daily passage of a minimum of
15 bicycles per day.
The meeting adjourned at 9:50 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Ald. Harold F. Sanders
