Public Works Committee - MINUTES - 10/17/1985.* PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD OCTOBER 17, 1985 The meeting was called to order by Chairman DeAngelis at 8~27 P.M. Also present were Committee Members Hilt and Tomczyk, Supt. Bertram, Ald. Taube and Fred Bauer. supt. Bertram informed the Committee that construction was starting on the Bass Bay Road Project. The Committee reviewed correspondence from City Engineers regarding a Change Order for Enders Construction Co., Inc. for an extension on the completion date for the site grading until November 1, 1985. The Committee acknowledged receipt of approval from the DNR on the Tess Corners Creek Channelization Project. Chairman DeAngelis advised the Committee he had contacted Waukesha County Highway & Transportation Committee regarding a right turn lane on Kelsey Drive. supt. Bertram met with a Commissioner who informed him that the right turn lane will be repaired in the near future. 0 The drainage problem on Sunset & C.T.H. "Y" is under Supt. Bertram's scrutiny to see what can be done to handle it properly. The Highway Commission advised Supt. Bertram they would install road identification signs in areas the City has requested. Supt. Bertram informed the Committee the traffic lights shall be installed shortly. Supt. Bertram spoke to Frank Switala regarding installation of fencing and landscaping. The Committee instructed Supt. Bertram to install the fence and shrubs as discussed originally and to use his discretion. Aid. Taube appeared before the Committee requesting waiving of curbs and gutters on Ann Drive. supt. Bertram advised Ald. Taube that culverts would be necessary if curbs and gutters were not installed and the culverts would be more expensive. supt. Bertram will contact the City Engineers to get a construction price. Ald. DeAngelis informed the Committee that the Army Corps. of Engineers placed stakes around the perimeter of the existing fell area on David Ludwig's property. Mr. Ludwig can fill that area and level it, but only that area. m Public Works Committee - Page 2 October 17, 1985 supt. Bertram advised the Committee that the signs on Woods Road and Racine Avenue bordering the High School are in very bad condition. The cost of replacing them would be very costly; therefore, the Committee recommended a letter be sent to Mr. Matheson inquiring as to whether the no parking signs are still necessary. The same problem exists at Caesar's Dam. The Committee is considering fazing out the signs in that area. Supt. Bertram advised the Committee he began to lower Little Muskego Lake level on October 15, 1985. The Committee dtscussed concrete approaches where the concrete goes over the culvert in violation of a city ordinance. The Committee suggested Supt. Bertram prepare a form letter advising the persons in violation of the ordinance that they are liable to any damage to city equipment or plows. Supt. Bertram advised the Committee he has seen Mr. Katzka on Hickory Lane and the drive shall be asphalted and the Hickory Lane problem should be solved. The meeting adjourned at 9:55 P.M.
