Public Works Committee - MINUTES - 5/9/1985PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MAY 9, 1985 The meeting was called to order by Chairman DeAngelis at 8:00 P.M. Also present were Committee Members Hilt and Tomczyk and Supt. Bertram. To accommodate the majority of persons present, the Committee reviewed the resurfacing of the Bass Bay and Kurtze Lane Roads. Chairman DeAngelis explained what had transpired at the last meeting and advised those present that the Finance Committee did not feel the City should pay for the road. A discussion followed with the people in the Bass Bay area expressing the feeling that they are paying their share and the City should pay for the road. The Committee made no recommendation to the Council. Mr. Narlock appeared with Al and Ray Badertscher from Field Drive to discuss a drainage problem which has caused a backup of water from a blockage on City-owned property. Ald. Tomczyk stated he felt funds should be provided in the 1986 Public Works budget for such projects. The Committee agreed. There are no funds in the 1985 budget for the Public Works Department to clean drainage ditches. The Committee discussed the status of obtaining the easements for the Tess Corners/Hwy. 24 Drainage Project. supt. Bertram advised that the titles were being updated at this time and upon receipt of that information, he would proceed to obtain the easements. He requested the Mayor to contact Pat Trockel of the DNR to urge the prompt approval of this project and the Tess Corners/Gaulke Drive Drainage Project. The Committee discussed the City's takeover of Hwy. 24 from the State. Supt. Bertram advised that Supv. Guhr had arranged a meeting with State officials, which he and Mayor Salentine attended, and the State appeared very eager to eliminate the highway from their jurisdiction. Supt. Bertram felt that if the City were to take over Hwy. 24 it would lose money. No recommendation was made by the Committee. The Committee discussed an erosion problem on Hickory Lane. Supt. Bertram advised the Committee that the problem has existed for many years, and a driveway causing the problem should have been asphalted years ago. Ald. Tomczyk will investigate and discuss a solution with the property owner. The Committee discussed the possible purchase of a strip of land by David Gonzales by which he could gain access from his home to North Shore Drive to the north. approximate 30' The land in question is an strip dedicated land for road purposes. The Committee felt at this time they could not consider selling the parcel. . Public Works Committee 519185 - Page 2 The Committee reviewed the status of purchasing a new truck for the Public Works Department. Supt. Bertram reported on the quotes received as follows: Metro GMC - $48,610; Lakeside International - $48,260; Hornburg Ford - $48,215; and, Badger Ford - $47,758. Supt. Bertram recommended acceptance of the low quote from Badger Ford. The Committee unanimously agreed to authorize Supt. Bertram to accept the quote from Badger Ford for $47,758, and to Offer for Sale the City's existing Truck No. 9, a 2010 International. Ald. Hilt moved to adjourn at 10:00 P.M. Ald.
