MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JANUARY 17, 1985
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Penovich at
7:00 P.M. Also present were Committee Members DeAngelis and
Hilt, Ald. Gaetzke, Superintendent Bertram and those per the attached list.
The Committee discussed flashing lights on Muskego Drive which
was referred from the Public Safety Committee. Superintendent
Bertram reported the estimate cost per light is $500; $1,000 for the two lights. The Committee recommends that a rumble strip be
installed in lieu of flashing lights and referred the matter back
to the Public Safety Committee.
The Committee reviewed the Diekfuss drainage problem. The
Committee reviewed State Statute 89.90, Removal of obstructions
from natural watercourses, and recommended that a copy of the
statute be sent to Mr. Diekfuss along with a letter explaining
procedure of removing obstructions.
The Committee further reviewed the request to move the utility
pole on Westwood Drive. It is the Committee's recommendation to
leave the existing pole where it is and, if necessary, install a
new light on the corner of Westwood Drive and St. Leonard Drive. The Committee will refer this matter back to the Public
Safety Committee.
The Committee reviewed inspection fees. The Committee recommends
to Council increasing the mowing charge from $25.00 to $40.00 per
lot or per hour, whichever is greater. The Committee also
recommends that the Street Opening inspection fee be increased
from $5.00 to $20.00 and that a charge of $20.00 be established
for an inspection for release of Ditch Bond.
The Committee reviewed the culvert crossing on Sunset & Racine
Avenue. The Committee will send a letter to Mr. Bolte, Waukesha
County Highway Department, requesting that the County and the
City of Muskego meet to resolve this problem.
The Committee discussed the Root River Watershed report. Superintendent Bertram explained that the result of the inventory
showed that there are approximately 2,200 feet of critical
streambank erosion areas that are impacting the water quality of the Root River and are located in Sections 2 and 12 of Muskego.
As a result of this study, the City of Muskego has been notified that they are eligible for Wisconsin Fund Root River watershed
cost-sharing assistance. The cost-share rate is 70 percent of
the approved total cost. The total estimated cost for installing
streambank protection is $66,000.00. The City would be eligible
to receive 70 percent of this cost or $46,200.00. Ald. Penovich moved to recommended to Council that the application form be executed in order to obtain these funds. Seconded by Ald.
DeAngelis, motion carried.

The Committee reviewed the minutes of the previous meeting.
The Committee reviewed TIF projects.
Superintendent Bertram reported to the Committee that the recently purchased Wood Chipper is running very well and has been
put to good use during the Holidays. It has already saved the
City money.
