BOARD OF APPEALS
MINUTES OF BOARD OF APPEALS MEETING HELD ON January 28, 1988
Chairman Gerald Fohr called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.
PRESENT: - Chairman Gerald Fohr, Vice Chairman Thomas Berken,
Carol Nievinski, Linda Koester, Vincent Caporali, Lloyd Erno, and
Zoning Officer Gerald Lee
ABSENT: Peter Passick
MINUTES: Mr. Berken moved to approve the minutes of December 3,
1987. Mrs. Nievinski seconded and the motion carried.
APPEAL 1-88 - MAR.SNALL'S ANTIOUES Mr. Pitzman and Mr. &
Mrs. Marshall appeared before the Board to regiiest a variance of
25 square feet for signage on the south side of the building for
a flat wall sign and a 12 square foot variance for a sign on the
east side of the building. Mr. Ritzman explained that he had
three businesses needing advertising space on this building. The
body shop to the rear of this building has used up all but 4
square feet of signage space allowable on the north side of the
building. The existing sign on the east wall for Crystal's
Resale Shop has used up 48 square feet of the 55 square feet
allowable. The Marshall's have requested a 32 square foot sign
and are requesting a variance of 25 square feet.
APPEAL 2-88 - JAMFS TAYLOR Mr. Taylor appeared before
the Board to request a variance of 2' in offset from the south
lot line to construct a residential addition along the entire
south end of his existing home. He would remove the present
porch, install a foundation and add a two story addition to
conform with the rest of the home. This building is presently a
non -conforming structure and is zoned RS3/OLS which would require
a five foot offset. Mr. Taylor submitted the names of neighbors
who had no objection to the addition.
The Board remained in open session.
APPEAL 1-88 Mrs. Nievinski moved to amend and approve
the resolution to grant a 25 square foot variance on the east
wall and a 12 square foot variance on the north wall for
signage. The hardship is three tenants occupying the building
with allowable signage area already given to previous
occupants. Mr. Berken seconded and the motion carried.
APPEAL 2-88 Mr. Erno moved to approve the appeal as
submitted. Mr. Caporali seconded and the motion carried. The
hardship is the narrow lot size. The addition to the existing
non -conforming building will not be any closer to the lot line.
