BMLCommM19860422BIG MUSKEGO LAKE/BASS BAY PROTECTION AND REHABILITATION
DISTRICT BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD APRIL 22, 1986
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Salentine at 7:30
P.M. Also present were Commissioners DeAngelis, Dumke, Hilt,
Patterson, Penovich, Sanders and Taube, City Clerk Stewart and
Acting City Atty. Riffle. Deputy Commissioners present were
Proeber and Switala.
Commissioner Hilt moved for adoption of minutes of previous
meeting. Commissioner DeAngelis seconded, carried.
Deputy Commissioner Proeber reported that it had been decided
by the Deputy Commissioners to present to the Council for
adoption the recommendation that the State of Wisconsin pay for
the reconstruction of the dam, put a five year warranty on it
and have the City accept it for $1.00. He added that if the
State is not agreeable, the State should pay for maintaining
the road to the dam and the maintenance costs of the dam.
Mayor reported that Mark Anderson of the DNR advised that the
State's Building Commission recommended the City participate
50/50 with the State.
Proeber stated that the dam currently belongs to the State and
that they assume full responsibility. In 1929 it was repaired
and rebuilt by the State and the City of Muskego has maintained
the water level.
Proeber stated that if the State did not agree with the City's
proposal, the State would build a new dam and put it at the low
water level so there would be no maintenance. Ald. Dumke
stated that would not be in the best interest of the City.
Mayor reported that Representative Lepak and State Senator
Adelman would attend the next Building Commission meeting on
behalf of the City.
Mayor clarified that the lake draw down referred to in the
recommendation to the State referred to a draw down to allow
for the repair only and not a whole lake draw down. DeAngelis
moved to include in the resolution the 5 points presented by
the Deputy Commissioners at their last meeting. Patterson
seconded, carried 7-0.
Dumke moved to adjourn at 7:40 P.M. Hilt seconded, carried.
