BIG MUSKEGO LAKE PROTECTION AND REHABILITATION DISTRICT
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JUNE 9, 1981
The meeting was called to order at 10:50 P.M. by Chairman Gottfried.
Also present were Commissioners Steinberg, Penovich, Radtke, Klenz,
Knudsen, Salentine and Dumke and City Clerk Stewart.
Mayor Gottfried advised the purpose of the meeting was to consider
certain requests for detachment for several residents.
The Clerk read a letter form Mr. and Mrs. Michael Flees requesting
detachment from the district.
Commissioner Radtke advised the deputy commissioners had been present
earlier, however, because of the length of the previous meeting they
had given him their report regarding the results of their deliberations
on all requests.
Because the board felt there was no hardship involved they recommended
the request of Mr. and Mrs. Flees be denied. Commissioner Radtke
moved to deny the request. Seconded by Commissioner Steinberg.
A short discussion took place regarding the ramifications of removing
single properties from the district. Commissioner Steinberg moved to
defer action on Mr. and Mrs. Flees request until the next meeting.
Seconded by Commissioner Penovich. Upon a roll call vote on the motion
to defer, Commissioners Dumke, Klenz, Knudsen, Penovich, Radtke and
Salentine voted "no". Commissioner Steinberg voted "aye". The motion
did not carry. Further discussion ensued regarding the pending
legislation regarding the makeup of the commissioners of the lake
district. Upon a roll call vote on the Flees' request to be detached
from the district, the motion carried with Ald. Salentine voting "no".
The motion to deny the request carried.
The Clerk read a communication from Mr. Scott Krause requesting that
his property, namely the golf course, be removed from the district.
Commissioner Radtke moved to deny the request. Seconded by Commissioner
Salentine. Mr. Krause, who was present at the meeting explained his
reasons for the request. Upon a roll call vote on the motion to
deny the request the motion carried unanimously.
The next request was received from Mr. Robert Kurtze, S81 W17051
Woods Road. Commissioner Radtke moved to deny the request for
Robert Kurtze. Seconded by Commissioner Steinberg. Upon roll call
the motion carried unanimously.
The next request for detachment from the district was received from
Mr. Orlo Zlensky, S91 W13253 Boxhorn Drive. Ald. Radtke moved to
deny the request. Seconded by Ald. Knudsen. Mr. Orlo Zlensky, who
was present at the meeting stated that he would have no gain by being
a member of the lake district. He expressed concern that the boundaries
were unfair. He stated that Mr. Carston Koeller who had been detached
from the district previously lived closer to the lake than he did.
Upon a roll call vote on the motion to deny the request, the motion
carried with Commissioner Salentine voting "no". The motion did not
carry.
Commissioner Knudsen moved to adjourn. Seconded by Commissioner
Steinberg. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 11:39 P.M.
