BMLCommM19790508P &G MUSKEGO LAKE AND - BASS BAY REHABILITATION DISTRICT Minutes of the meeting held on May 8, 1979. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Gottfried at 9:45 P.M. Also present were Bd. of Commission Members, Aldermen Pienkos, Ford, Weed, Van Lanen, Tomczyk, Dumke and Salentine. The Chairman announced that the first action of the Board was to elect a secretary and treasurer since Ald. Wallner was no longer a member -- of the board. Therefore the following action was taken. Ald. Ford moved that Wayne Salentine be elected secretary and that nominations be closed, motion seconded by Ralph Tomczyk and motion carried unanimously. Ronald Ford moved that E. P. Dumke be elected treasurer and that nominations be closed, motion seconded by Ralph Tomczyk and motion carried unanimously. Chairman Gottfried explained that Resol 180-78, establishing the Big Muskego Lake District elect a Board of District Deputies who shall be .responsible for advising the Board of District Commissioners per- forming activities for the benefit of the district as directed by the Bd. of District Commissioners. Such Board of District deputies shall consist of five district members being elected at the district's annual meeting. He further stated that since severe problems have arisen -- as to deteriorating conditions he felt a need to elect temporary deputies as the first annual meeting would not occur until fall of 79. Mr. Gary Stewart addressed the board relative to the proposed list of appointees, namely as follows: Gary Stewart, Frank Switala, Craig Lawdanski, Albert Meinen and Ronald Finco. He explained that they tried to gain equal distribution of representation within the dis- trict. Wayne Salentine expressed his concern that the farming element was not represented. He was assured that in the interum contact would be made for a representative. Ronald Ford moved, as seconded by Wayne Salentine that the District Deputies be named as follows: Gary Stewart, Frank Switala, Craig Lawdanski, Albert Meinen and Ronald Finco, and upon a voice vote, motion carried. Chairman Gottfried requested that the Bd. of Commissioners authorize him to file a petition with The Dept. of Natural Resources for a Grant - In -Aid Feasibility for the Big Muskego Lake District, cost of such study to be split, 607. by the state and 40% by the district. Approximate cost estimated between 15 and 25,000, said study to include valuation of pre- vious studies made, soil testing, lake bottom condition, farm land and use, bog movement and a mirimad of other reasons. When asked, Gary Stewart stated that his committee would not support any restoration of the lake without studies being made. Ronald Ford moved, as seconded by Ralph Tomczyk, that the chairman of the board be authorized to petition the DNR for a Grant -in Aid Feasibility Study for the Big Muskego Lake District, and motion carried. :Page - 2 - 5-8-79 Minutes of Big Muskego and Bass Bay District Gary Stewart asked that the board grant him the authority to seek other volunteers to assist the district deputies on the feasibility study and perhaps the raising of funds. It was suggested by the board that any raising of funds be done by an independent group (non-profit) such as the Little Muskego Lake Association has done.
