Snead, Conservation Coordinator Zagar and Director of Finance and Administration
Mueller. Deputy Commissioners Burmeister, Kies, Pilak and Schweitzer were also

meeting was noticed in accordance with the Open Meeting Law on June 24, 2011.

Commissioner Harenda seconded. Motion carried 7 in favor.
OLD BUSINESS
Deputy Commissioner Burmeister reported on the following:
Current Condition of Lake/Bay, Water Levels, Plant Growth, Fish and Wildlife
• The District is currently in the middle of the smaller drawdown that the DNR
requested. The water level is exactly at 6 inches below the sill. The recent rain
brought the level up. Tom Zagar recently closed the dam. If the summer is drier,
the water level will drop.
• Conditions on the lake: Fishing is good. There are some people experiencing
launching issues. (Durham ramp is marginal. Boxhorn is not a lot better.) Mr.
Burmeister launched from the Hunter's Nest and had no problem. He encouraged
people to launch their boats and use them.
• Wildlife: White pelicans are on the west end of the lake, which is very unusual.
The eagles are here as well. There are two young in the nest. The ospreys have
hatched over the last few days; however, one did not survive. Many ducks are
present, but very few geese.
• Weed conditions: There are very few.
Status of Big Muskego Lake Wildlife Area Land Acquisition by DNR
Mr. Zagar stated there was nothing new to report at this time. Commissioner Werner
asked if the Governor's Budget Bill and changes at the DNR would have any effect on
future land acquisitions. Mr. Zagar stated there were some funding reductions that may
impact the State's purchases more so than the cost sharing that is done by the DNR.
Mr. Zagar stated that the DNR had been communicating with three different landowners
regarding potential acquisitions. They are on hold right now because of funding issues.
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Snead moved to adjourn at 7:03 p.m. Commissioner Fiedler
seconded; motion carried.
