BMLM20080422BIG MUSKEGO LAKE/BASS BAY PROTECTION & REHABILITATION DISTRICT BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Approved: 7/8/2008 MINUTES OF QUARTERLY MEETING HELD TUESDAY, APRIL 22, 2008 Mayor Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:55 p.m. Also present were Commissioners Schaefer, Werner, Pavelko, Schneider, Fiedler and Snead, Deputy Commissioners Pilak, Burmeister, Kies, Schweitzer and Paulson, Conservation Coordinator Zagar, City Administrator Sheiffer, City Attorney Molter and Clerk -Treasurer Moyer. Commissioner Borgman was excused. Those present recited the Pledge of Allegiance. The Clerk -Treasurer stated the meeting was noticed in accordance with the Open Meeting Law. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Schaefer moved for approval of the January 22, 2008 minutes. Commissioner Snead seconded; motion carried. OLD BUSINESS 1. Deputy Commissioners Update - Tom Zagar reported the following: Wildlife has returned. Ben Heussner, the Fisheries Manager from the Department of Natural Resources reported the following: Oxygen levels were depleted this year. But Northern Pike and bass survived and are doing well. The bullheads are abundant and a problem. Consider a way to control at some point and consider a summer drawdown. This would be preventative maintenance. Ben provided his phone number (262)574- 2152. 2. Status of Big Muskego Lake Wildlife Area, Land Acquisition by DNR. Nothing is new since last year. NEW BUSINESS Authorization for Chairman (Mayor) to sign the DNR permit application for up to 40 acres of chemical weed treatments in 2008. Motion by Pavelko, second by Werner, approved 6 — 0. 2. Approval of agreement with Marine Biochemists and authorization for the Mayor to execute the agreement. Motion by Fiedler, second by Schaefer, approved 6 — 0. 3. Approve inclusion of a newsletter with the Lake District Assessment billing. Motion by Fiedler, second by Werner, approved 6 — 0. OLD BUSINESS Tom Kies noted that several cattail bogs went downstream to Wind Lake. The Lake District thanked the WDNR for aerating Bass Bay. They were removed with the help of the Public Works Department. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Snead moved to adjourn at 8:12 p.m. Commissioner Fiedler seconded; motion carried.
