OLD BUSINESS Deputy Commissioner's Update - Current Condition of Lake/Bay: water levels, plant growth, fish, and wildlife and Status of Land Acquisition by the DNR Deputy Commissioner Burmeister reported the following: ❑ He attended a meeting today with DNR representatives and individuals from Wind Lake. One issue discussed was the lake's oxygen levels. The DNR and Mr. Zagar did some testing. The levels were found to be satisfactory. Other issues discussed were vegetation, wildlife and the fishery. Studies need to be done in the future. The settling pond may be an issue if another drawdown is done. Mr. Burmeister discussed an alternative engineering method that could be used. Weeds seem to be reasonably under control. The DNR may perform a study to determine the number of bluegills in the future. There is a concern that the number is decreasing, which could be a problem as bluegills help to control the carp population. The wildlife population is good. The group intends to meet again in the future. Mr. Zagar stated that the DNR is actively pursuing some property acquisitions around the lake. The DNR did receive a parcel of land from the Department of Transportation on Muskego Dam Road. The land became part of the Big Muskego Wildlife Area and is open to the public. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Borgman moved to adjourn at 7:45 p.m. Commissioner Snead seconded; motion carried. (Minutes transcribed by Deputy Clerk Blenski.)
