BMLM19910304,- BIG MUSKEGO LAKE/BASS BAY PROTECTION & REHABILITATION DISTRICT INFORMATIONAL HEARING - MARCH 4, 1991 The Informational Hearing was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Mayor Salentine. Also present were Commissioners David Sanders, Harold Sanders, William Simmons, and Deputy Commissioners Leonard Pilak, Leslie Proeber and Jan Flancher. Mayor Salentine introduced Mark Anderson and Neal O'Reilly from the DNR and Nancy Zolitas from SEWRPC. Mr. O'Reilly presented the results of the U. S. Geological Study which showed that the phosphate nutrient loading was attributable to Big Muskego Lake. Nancy Zolitas from SEWRPC presented the various alternatives to improve Wind Lake. The recommended and cost-effective alternative is a draw down and a fish 'kill on both Big Muskego Lake and Bass Bay. - Mark Anderson indicated that the State would be willing to fund the program, including restocking of the lake with game fish and establishing a contingency which would allow for additional stocking in case of winter kill. It was Mr. Anderson's opinion that the State would put in this program, even if the public access requirement was not complied with since it is being done as an extension of the Wind Lake Management program. Kathy Aron requested that the Big Muskego Lake/Bass Bay Protection & Rehabilitation District participate in the program. Deputy Commissioner Pilak indicated that the District's participation should be an agenda item for the next quarterly Big Muskego Lake/Bass Bay Protection & Rehabilitation District meeting. The meeting adjourned at 9:43 P.M. ca ,-
