CCR2020023-Adopt Paid Sick Leave Policy In Compliance with FFCRA
COMMON COUNCIL – CITY OF MUSKEGO
RESOLUTION # 023-2020
RESOLUTION TO ADOPT AN EMERGENCY PAID SICK LEAVE POLICY IN
COMPLIANCE WITH THE FAMILIES FIRST CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE ACT
WHEREAS, due to the spread of the COVID-19 Virus, the City of Muskego is under
National, State, and Local states of Emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 18, 2020, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act
(“FFCRA”) was signed into law; and
WHEREAS, as part of the FFCRA, the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act (“EPSLA”),
established paid sick leave entitlement for eligible employees during an absence for
qualifying reasons as stated in the Act; and
WHEREAS, the City endeavors to provide and maintain a safe and healthy workplace
and is equally committed to complying with all applicable laws; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to provide paid sick leave benefits to eligible employees in
accordance with the EPSLA; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the new laws, it is necessary for the City to adopt workplace
policies in order to comply with the FFCRA and in furtherance of a City-wide effort to
limit the spread of coronavirus among its employees and the general public while
maintaining staffing and availability of emergency response to maintain public health,
order, safety, and essential services; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Policy,
in compliance with the FFCRA, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby adopted in
its entirety.
