RESOLUTION TO ADOPT FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE POLICY ADDENDUM TO
THE CITY’S FMLA POLICY IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE FAMILIES FIRST
CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE ACT
WHEREAS, due to the spread of the COVID-19 Virus, the City of Muskego is under
National, State, and Local states of Emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March 18, 2020, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act
(“FFCRA”) was signed into law; and
WHEREAS, the Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act (“EFMLEA”), an
amendment to the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”), is part of the
FFCRA; and
WHEREAS, the goal of the EFMLEA is to allow eligible employees to take up to twelve
weeks of federal Family Medical Leave during the COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, The City endeavors to provide and maintain a safe and healthy workplace
and is equally committed to complying with all applicable laws; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the new laws, it is necessary for the City to adopt workplace
policies in order to comply with the FFCRA and in furtherance of a City-wide effort to
limit the spread of coronavirus among its employees and the general public while
maintaining staffing and availability of emergency response to maintain public health,
order, safety, and essential services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Family Medical Leave Policy
Addendum to the City’s FMLA Policy, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby
adopted in its entirety.
