AMENDED
COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF MUSKEGO
RESOLUTION #070-2012
RESOLUTION REGARDING TEMPORARY BAN ON INDIVIDUAL FIREWORKS
WHEREAS, The Mayor, upon recommendation of the Fire Chief and notice from the
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, has issued a ban on burning; and
WHEREAS, Given the severe drought conditions, the Mayor has requested that the
Common Council consider a temporary ban on individual fireworks.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That due to extremely dry conditions and the
recommendation of the Mayor, Fire Chief and Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources, the City of Muskego Common Council hereby implements a ban on
individual fireworks until further notice or lifting of ban; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the Common Council hereby authorizes the Mayor
to lift the ban on individual fireworks upon recommendation of the Fire Chief; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
Further notice and lifting of the ban will be posted on the City’s website and
noticed to the press.
Permits will be valid for the following year (2013) upon proof of insurance by
June 14, 2013 if the ban extends past July 7, 2012.
If the ban extends through July 7, 2012 or the permit holders chosen dates,
permit holders may request to have their permit rescinded and the fee paid
refunded at any time before June 14, 2013.
If the ban is lifted before July 7, 2012, permits issued for this year will be valid for
firework usage July 1 through July 7, 2012.
The City of Muskego Common Council may review Chapter 9, Section 9.03,
which could affect the permitting process and the use of fireworks in the future.
