RESOLUllION #139-2006
RESOLUTION FURTHER ESTABLISHING AND DEFINING
A CITIZEN COMMITTEE TO STUDY AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS TO
COMMON COUNCIL CONCERl'HNG THE FUTURE OF CITY OWNED
SETTLEMENT CENTER PROPERTY
WHEREAS, on June 13, 2006, the Common Council adopted Resolution #130-206 which in part
called for the establishment of a seven member committee to resolve concerns related to the
Settlement Center; and,
WHEREAS, Resolution #130-2006 also determined that said committee shall consist oftwo
aldermen, two citizens, one Muskego Historical Society m~mber, one Muskego Chamber of
Commerce member, and one member of an outsidt:~ historical society, and
WHEREAS, if a member of an outside historical society does not submit a letter of interest, a
member with a museum/historical background may be selected.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, said committet: shall be named Citizen Study
Committee on the Future of City Owned Settlemt::nt Center Property; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, Citizen Study Committee members shall be appointed by
majority vote of the Common Council present in aecordanee with the following process:
· The Council representative to the Parks & Recreation Board (Ald. Snead) and the
Council liaison to the Muskego Historical Society (Ald. Melcher) shall serve on the
Committee as the two aldermanic representatives.
· The Council President will call the initial meeting of the Committee.
· Names and letters of interest from applicants shall be submitted by the applicant to the
City Clerk by July 21, 2006.
· The City Clerk shall provide the Common Council with agenda materials for the July 25,
2006 Common Council meeting, the names and copies of the letters of interest from all
applicants for committee appointment.
· Committee appointments shall appear as an agenda item for action on the July 25, 2006
Common Council meeting agenda.
· At its first meeting, the Committee shall nominate and elect a chairperson and vice
chairperson. (Council will make staff available as needed.)
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Citizen Study Committee on the Future of City Owned
Settlement Center shall bt:: charged with studying and mak],ng a written recommendation to the
Common Council within six (6) months of their first committee meeting concerning the future of
the City Owned Settlement Center property specifically, the Committee shall make
recommendations concerning the following:

1. the creation of a draft document that provides for a working relationship
between the City of Muskego, the Muskego Historical Society and the other
users of the Settlement Center which shall address the ability of all users to co-
exist positively and productively in the best interests of the community at large
the protection of the Old Settlement Center (which is a community asset) by
identifying the entity(s) responsible for managing and funding operations for
the site, and
the prot'~ction of the Old Settlement Center (which is a community asset) by
identifying the entity(s) responsible for managing and funding capital
improvt:ments for the site.
