RESOLUTION #226-2003
RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO SUPPORT THE STUDY OF THE
REDEVELOPMENT OF THE NEW VALLEY SAND & GRAVEL QUARRY
IN THE CITY OF NEW BERLIN
WHEREAS, Nonmetallic mine reclamation is an important issue facing all communities
in southeastern Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, The City of New Berlin has approved a reclamation plan for New Valley
Sand & Gravel Quarry; and
WHEREAS, The City of New Berlin Growth and Development Master Plan depicts the
New Valley Sand & Gravel Quarry as the site of a future business park; and
WHEREAS, A partnership of developers have acquired an option to purchase the New
Valley Sand & Gravel Quarry property and have approached the City of New Berlin and
City of Muskego to request the extension of sanitary sewer and water service as well as
change in zoning to permit the development of a business park; and

WHEREAS, The developers have further requested some assurances on the
availability of sanitary sewer and water service as well as tax increment district
financing for the proposed business park prior to exercising their option to purchase.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That it is the present intention of the C!tyof
Muskego to support the study of the redevelopment of the New Valley Sand & Gravel
Quarry in the City of New Berlin, subject to all necessary approvals of the City of New
Berlin and subject to the recommendation of the Public Utilities Committee upon receipt
of a favorable report of the City Engineers on the cost and technical feasibility of
extending sanitary sewer and water service to the New Valley Sand & Gravel Quarry.
