RESOLUTION #167-2002
RESOLUTION TO PLACE ADVISORY REFERENDUM ON
NOVEMBER BALLOT AS TO COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTER
WHEREAS, the Common Council has and is exploring the possibility of building a
Community Recreation Center in the City of Muskego; and
WHEREAS, many citizens have expressed their opinions both for and against the City
constructing such a facility; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council on June 11,2002 adopted Resolution #131-2002
declaring its intent to hold a referendum on this issue before building such a Community
Recreation Center; and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost of a Community Recreation Center as envisioned by the
Common Council at this time would be $14.14 million, consisting of $10,632 million
construction costs and $3.508 million for equipment, furnishings, fees, permits and
contingencies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
1 That the Common Council, pursuant to Resolution #131-2002, and the wishes of
the Common Council, has determined that an advisory referendum question on
this issue be placed on the November 5, 2002 ballot; and
2. That the language for said referendum question will read as follows:
Should the City of Muskego proceed with construction of a Community
Recreation Center that is planned to be self-supporting, to be located on
the west side of Moorland Road approximately one tenth of a mile south of
Janesville Road, at an estimated construction cost of $10.632 million, plus
an estimated $3.508 million for equipment, furnishings, fees, permits and
contingencies, totaling $14.14 million, for the purpose of contributing to the
health and welfare of the public by providing a central gathering place for
social, fitness, recreational, educational and aquatic opportunities?
