RECOGNITION OF 25 YEARS OF SERVICE
RESOLUTION MOO-2002
JIM R. MURPHY - MUSKEG0 POLICE DEPARTMENT
Whereas, on April 19, 1977 Jim R. Murphy began his career with the City of Muskego
Police Department serving as a Police Cadet; and
Whereas, Jim attended Police Recruit Training at Waukesha'County Technical Institute
from February 20 to March 31, 1978 and was sworn in as a Patrol Officer on April 24,
1978 and assigned to Patrol Team #4; and
Whereas, due to Jim's exemplary job performance and demonstrated good judgment he
was selected in 1981 to be a member of the Department's Special Weapons and
Tactical Team where he continues to serve as a team member; and
Whereas, Jim received a department commendation on June 14, 1996 for his
investigative patrol work that led to several arrests for manufacturing a controlled
substance and the of discovery of an indoor marijuana growing operation inside a
Muskego residence which is among the largest indoor grows ever found in Waukesha
County; and
Whereas, Jim was chosen as the 1996 Officer of the Year by the Association of SWAT
Personnel of Wisconsin, in recognition of his exemplary actions taken while attempting
to arrest an escaped felon, who was armed with a rifle and threatening his life; and
Whereas, during Jim's career he has served as a Field Training Officer, Court officer,
Officer-in-Charge, and currently is the senior patrol officer for the Muskego Police
Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of
Muskego does hereby recognize and appreciate the 25 years of dedicated service
provided by Officer Jim R. Murphy to the citizens of the City of Muskego.
