CCR1999031CITY OF MUSKEG0 - COMMON COUNCIL
RESOLUTION #31-99
RESOLUTION OBJECTING TO PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION'S
PROPOSED AREA CODE BOUNDARIES
WHEREAS, The City of Muskego is a community of approximately 36 square miles in
southeastern Wisconsin that was incorporated in 1964, and
WHEREAS, The City of Muskego was preceded by the Town of Muskego which over the years
had several distinct population centers, and
WHEREAS, The Town had two phone exchanges, one for Waukesha and one for Milwaukee
because of this historic split, and
WHEREAS, Now because of this historic split the PSC is intending to rule that new area code
boundaries be set based on these historic boundaries, and
WHEREAS, It is not in the best interest of the City of Muskego's citizens and customers of
Ameritech that this community be split in half by different area codes, and
WHEREAS, The PSC has recognized the impact of this division and has directed staff to look
for alternatives prior to rendering a final ruling, and
WHEREAS, The Commission should continue to look for alternatives to this division for
whatever length of time necessary that would have the least amount of impact on the citizens 0 and customers of Muskego and unite us into one area code with the impact on the utility being
secondary
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Mayor and the Common Council of the City
of Muskego do hereby strenuously object to the division of the community by differing area
codes, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That we encourage the PSC to look at all alternatives to
eliminate this split with the most minimal impact to the citizens and customers of Muskego with
the cost or impact to the utility to be considered secondary, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the City of Muskego will cooperate wherever possible to
achieve this goal for all of its citizens,
DATED THIS & DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1999.
