CCR1997187COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF MUSKEG0 RESOLUTION #187-97 RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR EXPLORATION OF PRIVITIZATION BY MMSD WHEREAS, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District is undertaking a competition study to compare the cost of contracting some of its operations versus the current structure, and; WHEREAS, significantly improving efficiency in MMSD's operations would reduce the District's costs of providing sewerage treatment service and would positively affect sewer fees, and; WHEREAS, in other areas of the country where municipal wastewater treatment plants are run under contract by a private firm, such as Indianapolis, 20% to 40% savings have been common, and; WHEREAS, the MMSD Commission recently approved the issuance of a request for proposals for contract operations of the management and field operations only after the District District's two wastewater treatment plants, biosolids determined there were qualified firms interested in the process, and; WHEREAS, the City of Muskeqo has always supported Privatization 0 as a potential means of cost savings and increase in service levels, and; WHEREAS, the City of Muskego on an annual basis reviews it's services to evaluate potential for Privatization. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Muskego supports MMSD's exploration of Privatization of parts of their operation to become more cost effective and either maintain or increase level of services.
