CCR1997154COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF MUSKEGO RESOLUTION #154-97 RESOLUTION EXPRESSING APPRECIATION FOR ASSISTANCE WITH LINNIE LAC DAM WHEREAS, the storms of Friday night and Saturday, June 20th and estimation of the Department of Natural Resources posed a 21st caused a breach of the Linnie Lac Dam, which, in the potential threat of imminent collapse of the Dam, and WHEREAS, action to stabilize the dam to prevent loss of life and property was needed on an immediate basis, and WHEREAS, on two occasions it became necessary to notify and evacuate citizens within the area that was potentially at risk, and WHEREAS, various groups, organizations and private citizens from Muskego, New Berlin, and the surrounding area banded together to fill and place sandbags, rip rap and assist with other support activities in an attempt to avert a collapse of the dam, and ensure the safety of those affected citizens of the City of Muskego. NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Muskego do hereby gratefully acknowledge the time, effort, and work of those citizens who came forward disaster which could have resulted were it not for those In a time of crisis, and played a crucial role in averting the efforts; a' BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Muskego Public Works Department, the City of Muskego Police Department, the various representatives of the City of New Berlin, the State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the American Red Cross, who all performed these difficult and crucial services with great professionalism, and are to be commended for their service; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Muskego do hereby gratefully acknowledge the work of the dedicated men and women of the Muskego, Tess Corners, and New Berlin Fire Departments, and the Muskego Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, who played a crucial role in operations. Their work as volunteers, in the myriad of services they provided exemplified the highest level of professionalism, and is a testament to their service, in the finest tradition of the fire service, and '.
