CCR1997131COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF MUSKEG0 RESOLUTION #131-97 DETERMINATION OF ACQUISITION OR LEASE OF PARKLAND MALL FOR LIBRARY PURPOSES WHEREAS, the Common Council for the past year has explored options for placing a public library at Parkland Mall following an advisory referendum to do so; and WHEREAS, the option of purchase over lease was explored in great detail; and WHEREAS, the Council made the determination to pursue acquisition rather than lease because of long range cost factors as well as and control of tenant mix; and control issues involving management, future property condition WHEREAS, the City was not successful in purchasing Parkland Mall; and WHEREAS, the City has been approached by the new owner, Mr. Art Dyer, representing Parkland Venture LLC; and WHEREAS, Mr. Dyer has brought forward an initial proposal for the City to lease space at $7.95 per square foot at triple net; and WHEREAS, the Council has reviewed that request as well as discussed the possibility of purchasing a portion of the Mall for the Library. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of Muskego is no longer interested in the lease or possible purchase of a portion of Parkland Mall at this time because of because of lack of control over the entire center. long-term costs associated with leasing or a partial purchase BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of Muskego will still pursue its options for an expanded or new library facility.
