NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council, upon the recommendation of the Finance Committee, does hereby establish a Drug-Free Workplace Policy for City of Muskego employees, as attached. I hereby acknowledge that I have received a copy of the City of Employee Signature Date 0 CITY OF MUSKEGO DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE POLICY Adopted 1/23/96 Resolution # 25-96 The City of Muskego has a responsibility to provide a healthy, safe and productive environment for City employees, citizens doing business with the City, and visitors. The City recognizes that the use and abuse of alcohol and drugs are major problems use, or are under the influence of drugs or alcohol while at in society that also exist in the workplace. Individuals who work present an obvious and unacceptable threat to their own safety and health, and that of their fellow employees, citizens and visitors with whom they come in contact. The use/abuse of drugs and alcohol has a detrimental effect on performance/productivity, and could lead to an increase in certain employee related costs to the City. In order to protect the health, safety and welfare of its employees, and that of the residents of the City of Muskego, the City requires that all employees report to work free of drugs, intoxicants, alcohol, narcotics or any other controlled substance. The City further prohibits the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession or use of controlled substances, alcohol or drug paraphernalia by employees (1) while vehicle/equipment, or (3) while on duty. with the federal Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, 41 U.S.C. 701 It is the intent of the City, under this policy, to fully comply et seq., and to maintain a drug-free workplace for its may be experiencing problems with alcohol or drug abuse. Implementation of this policy will not, however, result in any privileges or exemptions from accepted levels of job performance (quality or quantity of work, attendance, conduct, reliability, etc.) As required by the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, all employees must notify the City, in writing, of any criminal drug statute conviction for a violation occurring in the workplace no City will notify the appropriate federal agency within ten (10) later than five (5) calendar days after such conviction.
