RESOLUTION AS TO GRIEVANCE
(AFSCME - City Hall/Library)
WHEKEAS, the Finance Committee has reviewed a grievance filed by
AFSCME (City Hall/Library), as attached, and
WHEKEAS, the Finance Committee has recommended that the grievance
be honored.
NOW, THEKEFOKE, HE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the
City of Muskego, upon the recommendation of the Finance
Committee, does hereby grant that the employee filling the
Clerical Aide position in the Planning and Development Department
be paid a wage comparable to the Keceptionist-Typist I position,
as listed in the 1989-90 AFSCME union contract, retroactive to
the date of employment.

Statement of Grievants:
(Circumstances of Facts): (Briefly, what happened) The employee was hired at the wrong classification
level and is receiving a lesser wage. On December 21, 1989, Mr. Jonathan Swain was notified
of this discrepancy on the new position and did not respond as of this date to letter
sent from Bob Chybowski (Attachment c). The employee was hired and was doing the work

The department established a "Secretarial/Clerical Aide" position (See Attachment A)
and did not set the wage at the already specified entry-level clerical position in the
Agreement as "Receptionist/Typist I." (see Attachment B), and therefore attempting to
create a two-tier system in Local 2414.

(The Request for Settlement or corrective action desired): The employee be Paid according to the wage
schedule set forth in the Agreement for "Receptionist/Typist I." Also, the employee
should receive the retroactive pay.
