REQUESTED SITING LAW CHANGE DIRECTED TO THE STATE LEGISLATORS
WHEREAS, the City is currently involved with siting a landfill,
and
WHEREAS, public hearings have been held that have pointed out
certain deficiencies in the present law, and
WHEREAS, the City has a potential for additional site requests,
and
WHEREAS, the present siting law could allow those requests to be
approved, and
WHEREAS, a community could be known as a "community of
landfills", and
WHEREAS, a $2,500 limit is allowed to be paid by the petitioner
to the community for engineering, legal and other expenses, and
WHEREAS, the City in the initial stages of siting a landfill, has
found there is considerable costs involved for engineering,
attorney and administrative expenses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the
City of Muskego does hereby request that the siting law be
changed to limit the number of landfills within a community, and
that the community be reimbursed for 100% of any expenses that
can be documented in regard to siting a landfill.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to
mail a copy of this resolution to Senator Adelman and
Representative Lepak.
