CCR1971119RESOLUTION #119-71
EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO ASSEMBLY BILL #614
a WHEREAS, Assembly Bill #614 which provides for compulsory binding
1)
arbitration of the terms of contracts with municipal police
officers and firemen and has been vigorously opposed by the
League of Wisconsin Municipalities, and
WHEREAS, this opposition is based on the grounds that it would
allow individuals who are in no way responsible to the electorate
to establish wages, hours and conditions of employment which
could well provide property tax increases, and
WHEREAS, the Finance Committee has recommended that the City of
Muskego go on record as opposing Assembly Bill #614,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City
of Muskego does hereby register its opposition to Assembly
Bill #614 on the grounds that the establishment of wages, hours
and conditions of employment could be removed from their juris-
diction and deter their efforts to maintain a realistic tax
rate.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution shall be
sent to Representative John Shabaz and Senator James Devitt.
DATED THIS DAY OF ?flJ , 1971.
