CCR1971119RESOLUTION #119-71 EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO ASSEMBLY BILL #614 a WHEREAS, Assembly Bill #614 which provides for compulsory binding 1) arbitration of the terms of contracts with municipal police officers and firemen and has been vigorously opposed by the League of Wisconsin Municipalities, and WHEREAS, this opposition is based on the grounds that it would allow individuals who are in no way responsible to the electorate to establish wages, hours and conditions of employment which could well provide property tax increases, and WHEREAS, the Finance Committee has recommended that the City of Muskego go on record as opposing Assembly Bill #614, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of Muskego does hereby register its opposition to Assembly Bill #614 on the grounds that the establishment of wages, hours and conditions of employment could be removed from their juris- diction and deter their efforts to maintain a realistic tax rate. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution shall be sent to Representative John Shabaz and Senator James Devitt. DATED THIS DAY OF ?flJ , 1971.
