CCR1965063RESOLUTION #63 NAMING OF LUTHER PARKER CEHETERY WHEREAS, the responsibility of the maintenance of the cemetery known as Durham Cemetery has been assumed by the former Town of Muskego, WHEEUS, Luther Parker, the first permanent white settler of Muskego and his wife Alletta French Parker are buried there, WHEREAS, Luther Parker was one of Waukesha County's most distinguished pioneers, aiding in Waukesha County's secession from Milwaukee County in 18L+6, representing this area in the Territorial Legislature, and represent- ing his township of Muskego in the new County Board, and WHEREAS, Luther Parker, prior to his coming here, was known internationally president of the Indian Stream Republic, and independent soverign nation for his determined and freedom-loving independence as the first and only within the borders of these United States, and memory of Luther Parker for his services to his town, county, state and WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that a memorial be established in the freedom-loving fellow citizens, and WHEREAS, the Public Welfare Committee has recomended that such a memorial be established, THEFZFORE, be it resolved that the Common Council of the City of Muskego in Waukesha, State of Wisconsin and above all to his fellow citizens by Luther recognition of the services rendered to the Town of Muskego, County of Parker, and in recognition of this first permanent white settler of this memorial in kis name, and henceforth to be known as LUTHER PARKER CFlOTEXY. area, does hereby establish the cemetery known as Durham Cemetery as a Be it further resolved that the cemetery be properly maintained, and an appropriate marker be erected. m 0 PUBLIC WELFARE COMTTFZ
