,a POLICIES REGARDING HIGHWAY EIfPLOYEES
WHEREAS, IT IS ADVISABLE TO ESTABLISH CERTAIN POLICIES AFFECTING
EMPLOYEES OF THE MUSKEGO HIGHWAY DEPT., RELATING TO PAID HOLIDAYS,
*VACATIONS, SICK LEAVE, RETIREMENT AND SALARIES,
WHEREAS, THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS HAS MET WITH THE HIGHWAY SUPER-
INTENDENT, WHO, REPRESENTING THE EMPLOYEES OF THE HIGHWAY DEPT.,
PRESENTED SEVERAL PROPOSALS TO THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS,
WHEREAS, THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS HAVING R.EVIEWED THE REQUESTS
MADE BY THE EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY’S HIGHWAY DEPT., AS WELL AS
POLICIES OF THE FORMER TOWN OF MUSKEGO.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MUSKEGO ADOPT THE FOLLOWING POLICIES AND SALARY SCHEDULE
AS RECOMMENDED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS,
SALARY FOR HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE EMPLOYEES SHALL BE $2.65 PER
HOUR BASED ON AN ASSURED 45 HOUR WEEK. SALARY FOR THE HIGHWAY
SUPERINTENDENT SHALL BE $7, 779. 00 PER YEAR.
THE HOURS TO BE WORKED BY THE EMPLOYEES OF THE CIT~OF MUSKEGO
HIGHWAY DEPT., SHALL BE 9 HOURS FROM THE FIRST DAY OF APRIL
TO THE THIRTIETH OF NOVEMBER AND SHALL BE EIGHT HOURS PER
DAY AND FIVE HOURS ON SATURDAY FROM DECEMBER FIRST TO MARCH
THIRTIETH.
NEW IN-EXPERIENCED HIGHWAY DEPT. EMPLOYEES SHALL RECEIVE THE
STARTING WAGE OF $2. 35 PER HOUR AND AFTER A PERIOD OF 60
DAYS FROM THE STARTING DATE, VPON RECOMMENDATION OF THE SUPT.
OF HIGHWAYS, SUBJECT TO APPROVAL OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS,
SHALL RECEIVE $2.45 PER HOUR AND AFTER 6 MONTHS FROM THE
STARTING DATE, UPON RECOMMENDATION AS AFORESAID, WILL RECEIVE
THE SAME RATE OF THE REGULAR EMPLOYEES, NAMELY, $2.65 PER HOUR.
MEW EXPERIENCED HIGHWAY DEPT. EMPLOYEES SHALL RECEIVE THE START-
ING WAGE OF $2.45 PER HOUR AND AFTER THREE MONTHS FROM THE
STARTING WAGE OF $2.45 PER HOUR AND AFTER THREE MONTHS FROM
THE STARTING DATE, UPON RECOMMENDATION FROM THE SUP’T. OF HIGHWAYS AND SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC
WORKS, SHALL RECEIVE THE SAME RATE AS THE REGULAR EMPLOYEES,
NAMELY, $2.65 PER HOUR.
THERE SHALL BE ONE WEEKS VACATION, WITH PAY, BASED ON A 45
HOUR WEEK AT THE ABOVE STATED RATE OF PAY, SAID VACATION TO
BE ALLOWED ONLY WHEN EMPLOYED STEADILY FOR A PERIOD OF 12
MONTHS OR MORE. TWO WEEKS VACATION, WITH PAY, SHALL BE
ALLOWED AFTER FIVE YEARS OF SERVICE. THREE WEEKS OF VACAUT-
SERVICE. TACATIONS MUST BE TAKEN DURING THE CALENDAR YEAR
AND AT THE CONVENIENCE OF THE DEPARTMENT HEAD. VACATIONS
AND THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF JANUARY. PREVIOUS EMPLOYMENT BY
THE TOWN OF MUSKEGO SHALL BE INCLUDED IN COMPUTING CONTINUOUS
ION, WITH PAY, SHALL BE ALLOWED AFTER TEN YEARS OF CONTINOUS
CANNOT BE TAKEN CONCURRENTLY, THE LAFT TWO WEEKS IN DECEMBER
SERVICE.
THE FOLLOWING WILL BE PAID HOLIDAYS: MEMORIAL DAY, INDEPEND-
ENCE DAY, LABOR DAY, THANKSGIVING DAY, CHRISTMAS DAY AND
NEW YEARS DAY.
7. THERE SHALL BE A MANDATORY RETIREMENT AGE OF 65. SUCH RE-
TIREMENT TO BE EFFECTIVE ON EITHER APRIL IST OR OCTOBER IST
FOLLOWING THE 65~~ BIRTHDATE.
ALL EMPLOYEES SHALL BE PAID FOR DAYS OFF DUE TO ILLNESS
CERTIFICATE. SICK DAYS SHALL ACRUE AT THE RATE OF ONE WORK-
708 HOURS PER YEAR. SAID SICK LEAVE ACRUED OR EARNED, BUT
MAXIMUM OF 60 DAYS OR 540 HOURS. THE USE OF SAID ACCUMULAT-
CREDIT FOR TIME OF EMPLOYMENT BY THE TOWN OF MUSKEGO SHALL
