COMMON COUNCIL – CITY OF MUSKEGO
RESOLUTION #072-2008
RECOGNITION OF REPRESENTING THE UNITED STATES IN CHINA AND
FOR 50 YEARS OF THE WATER BUGS SKI TEAM
WHEREAS, The Water Bugs will celebrate 50 years in 2008 of strong teamwork and efforts as a water ski team; and
WHEREAS, The Water Bugs were formed back in 1958 on Okauchee Lake by a group of water skiers who wanted to
show their skills to the spectators; and
WHEREAS, The Water Bugs were one of the first Ski Show Clubs in the State of Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, The Water Bugs came to Muskego in 1981and found Idle Isle Park and Little Muskego Lake as their “home
site”; and
WHEREAS, The Water Bugs have provided Water skiing lessons since 1990 through the Muskego Park and Recreation
department; and
WHEREAS, The Water Bugs provide free water ski shows at Idle Isle Park on Wednesday evenings every summer since
1981 from Memorial Day through Labor Day; and
WHEREAS, The Water Bugs were selected to represent the United States against China in a ski show competition
against two of the top professional Chinese show ski teams; and
WHEREAS, The Water Bugs while going to compete, the bigger purpose is to better U.S./Chinese relations in an
environment centered around fun and entertainment; and

WHEREAS, The Water Bugs will have their first competition on May 2 in China; and
WHEREAS, the City appreciates the efforts of The Water Bug ski team to provide a positive image of our city to the
community and the world, teams like the Muskego Water Bugs have pride in serving the City and its’ citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of Muskego does hereby recognize The
Water Bugs for their achievement in representing the United States in China in May of 2008 and for their entertainment,
dedication and service, to the City of Muskego which span twenty-seven years.
