CHARTER ORDINANCE #22
A CHARTER ORDINANCE SETTING THE
TERM OF THE OFFICE OF ALDERMAN
THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MUSKEGO, WISCONSIN, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City of Muskego pursuant to §62.09(5)(b) and §66.0101 of the Wisconsin
Statutes hereby elects not to be governed by those portions of §62.09(5)(b) of
the Wisconsin Statutes relating to the term of office of the Aldermen for the City
of Muskego, which are in conflict with this ordinance.
SECTION 2: Charter Ordinance #10 is repealed to the extent it is in conflict with this charter
ordinance.
SECTION 3: Commencing with each of the candidates elected at the regular spring election in
April, 2005 and in accord with the following schedule, the term of office of
Alderman shall be three (3) years. The schedule is as follows:

SECTION 4: The several sections of this ordinance are declared to be severable. If any
section or portion thereof shall be declared by a decision of a court of
competent jurisdiction to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, such decision
shall apply only to the specific section or portion thereof directly specified in the
decision, and not affect the validity of all other provisions, sections or portion
thereof of the ordinance which shall remain in full force and effect. Any other
ordinances whose terms are in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are
hereby repealed as to those terms that conflict.
SECTION 5: This is a charter ordinance and shall not take effect until approved by a majority
of electors voting thereon at the election to be held in November, 2004 as
prescribed by §66.0101(7) and §9.20(4) to (6), Wisconsin Statutes.
