NEW BUSINESS
Deputy Commissioners' Update - Current Condition of Lake/Bay, Water Levels, Plant
Growth, Fish and Wildlife
No one was present. Chairman Chiaverotti read the following report that was submitted:
Lake is ice covered with about 16” in most areas. Some lake users are travelling with
snowmobiles and ATVs. However, lake ice should never be considered “safe” and
people should always be aware of changing conditions.
There has been little snow cover on the ice through most of the winter. This has
permitted aquatic plants to continue to photosynthesize beneath the ice and produce
oxygen. So at this time, there is a lower likelihood of a winter fish kill occurring.
Fishing has been good for Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass and Bluegill.
Some prominent growths of Eurasian Water Milfoil began last fall and can be seen
thriving beneath the ice. This indicates that the lake could have more of a problem with
this nuisance plant in 2018.
Authorization for Chair to Apply for Chemical Aquatic Plant Control Permit
Commissioner Kubacki made a motion to approve. Commissioner Wolfe seconded;
motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Kubacki made a motion to adjourn at 7:21 p.m. Commissioner Wolfe
seconded; motion carried.
Minutes taken and transcribed by Jill Blenski, Deputy City Clerk.
